Artist Bio
Kirsty Millard - Singer-Songwriter
Kirsty Millard, born in Bradwell Juxta Coggeshall, Essex, is an British singer-songwriter living between Glasgow and London, whose music is infused with stories of resilience, life lessons, and an unmistakable love for melody and wordplay. Inspired by her earliest memories of her grandparents' upright piano, Kirsty was motivated to learn music at a young age—originally so she could finally play the instrument she was forbidden to touch until she "knew how." Her first teacher, Mr. Hurst, was a local musician and regular at the races, often eager for Kirsty's tips on horses as she is also a talented equestrian, having competed internationally for her country, she quickly mastered her first tunes.
Kirsty’s journey with music expanded in her teenage years, when her father, a rhythm guitarist in local bands, introduced her to the guitar. As she began composing songs, she performed them for college friends, finding humor and growth in their reactions. This creative spark grew when a chance encounter with Bloc Party’s Kele Okereke encouraged her to take her songwriting seriously. His support inspired her to record a few early tracks and continue writing as music became her constant companion, her songs emerging in moments of inspiration whether on a train or in the quiet of her daily life.
Her debut single, “The Patriarchy,” set for release in January 2025, showcases her talents as both lyricist and performer. The track, recorded at Abbey Road Studios, features an exceptional lineup, including session players Ryan Hassan (known for his work with Fat Man Scoop and Rod Stewart), Calum Lamond (Rolling Stone cover artist Yendry’s bassist), and jazz guitarist Charlie Allen (WizKid’s band). Under the expert guidance of engineer Chris Bolster and assistant engineer Marta di Nozzi, Kirsty’s music reaches new heights, with proceeds from the single supporting Scottish Women’s Aid and Megan’s Space.
Kirsty is currently working on a full-length album slated for recording in 2025. In addition to her personal projects, she has teamed up with local artists Ken James and Stuart Clements to establish a CIC company that supports local musicians and promotes music events, fostering a vibrant creative community in the Garnock Valley.
With an authenticity that resonates through her lyrics, Kirsty Millard is a voice to watch in the singer-songwriter scene.
Kirsty Millard is dedicated to creating music that empowers, heals, and brings people together. Through her soulful, unapologetic voice, she tells stories that resonate with those reclaiming strength and resilience in the face of adversity. With her debut single, “The Patriarchy,” Kirsty aims to inspire listeners to transform personal pain into collective empowerment and to amplify the voices of women and young people everywhere.
A portion of all proceeds from her music goes to supporting vital causes, including Scottish Women’s Aid and Megan’s Space—organizations that provide critical resources for survivors of domestic abuse and mental health support for young people. Through her artistry, Kirsty strives to be a voice for those who feel unheard, a source of support for those in need, and a catalyst for meaningful change in her community and beyond.

The Video Shoot on Irvine Beach – A Call for Healing and Release
As part of the single’s launch, Kirsty Millard filmed the music video for “The Patriarchy” on November 9th, 2024, at Irvine Beach—she invited fans, supporters, and anyone in need of release to join her. Inspired by the theme of liberation, the shoot included a cathartic “burning ritual” for participants. Those moved by personal struggles, recent breakups, or traumatic experiences were encouraged to bring symbolic items, such as wedding dresses or other mementos, to burn as part of a collective release.
“Creating this video at Irvine Beach allowed us to bring people together in a powerful act of catharsis,” says Millard. “This video is about reclaiming strength, lost voices finally being heard and essentially breaking free, being who you want to be and I loved that other women who felt they needed to join us in transforming pain into empowerment could be a part of it.”
A Song with a Purpose
With “The Patriarchy,” Millard offers a rallying cry for women everywhere, merging her soulful voice with a message of self-empowerment. “I wrote ‘The Patriarchy’ to remind women that they have the power to be their own heroes, especially in the face of toxic relationships,” Millard shares. Inspired by movements like #MeToo and Time’s Up, the song resonates with those who have faced personal and societal challenges.
Supporting Scottish Women’s Aid and Megan’s Space
A portion of the proceeds from “The Patriarchy” will go to Scottish Women’s Aid and Megan’s Space, two organizations dedicated to supporting survivors of domestic abuse and youth mental health. Millard’s dedication to these causes is deeply personal, and she hopes her music can offer hope and strength to others on their own journeys.
